On average, it is estimated, between 9,000 to 15,000 illegal aliens (undocumented workers) cross the U.S./Mexican border every 24 hours. The vast majority are looking for jobs. A few are escaping an oppressive life. An increasing number are running drugs.
Over ninety percent are going north on foot, carrying what little supplies and clothing they can. They will be crossing the driest area of the United States, the deserts of the Southwest.
