Abstract:

Areas that were not connected to the sewerage system of the Comisión Estatal de Servcios Públicos (CESPTE) in 2004. Using CEPTE expert knowledge, zones where sewers are not yet connected were digitized in ArcGIS 9.0 from a 2000 NOAA Aerial Photograph at 1:24,000 processed by CESAR, SDSU with a date of 2000. The polygons and currentness were verified by agencies in the Departamento de Administración Urbano of the Municipality of Tecate and CESPTE personnel in 2004. * Sinopsis: Las áreas no conectadas con el sistema de drenaje de la Comisión Estatal de Servicios Públicos de Tecate en 2004. Utilizando el conocimiento de expertos de la CESPTE, las zonas que no tenían conexión con el sistema de drenaje fueron digitalizadas en ArcGis 9.0 de una fotografía aérea de NOAA del 2000 a una resolución de 1:24,000 procesada por CESAR, SDSU con fecha de 2000. Los polígonos y su vigencia fueron verificados en 2004 por organismos del Departamento de Administración Urbana del municipio de Tecate y personal de CESPTE.

Purpose:

To show areas of extremely high risk to the shallow aquifer. Non-connected areas often discharge sewage directly into the river and therefore seep into the shallow aquifer, putting the well heads at risk. Fecal coliforms have caused some closures of wells in the past.

Supplemental_Information:

The non-connected areas are expected to be connected by 2006. Some now use septic systems.
