The land use coverage was created as part of the Tijuana River Watershed GIS database project. It includes information on the general land uses in the watershed. These land uses conform to the San Diego Association of Governments general land use classifications, though the SANDAG land use codes are not utiliized.

Land Use polygons for the United States poriton of the Tijuana River Watershed.
Process_Step:
Process_Description:
Land use polygons in the Mexican portion of the watershed were generated by aerial photography interpretation at scales of 1 : 12,500 and 1 : 50,000. These boundaries were mapped onto mylar sheets overlaying the air photos. The photos and mylars were then used to heads-up digitize the land use polygons using a SPOT image as a reference. Once the boundaries were completed, topology was generated and the polygons were attributed with the proper land use codes and descriptions. The Mexican portion was then merged with the 1995 land use obtained from the San Diego Association of Governments for the United States portion to complete the overall coverage for the watershed.
